Abit launches first board based on VIA KT600 chipset

Abit announces the immediate release of the KV7 motherboard which is based on the long-awaited KT600 chipset. VIA chipset based boards have always represented good value for money and the KV7 should be a big step up from the often criticised KT400 series. It will be interesting to see if it can take the Socket-A crown from the NForce range. Full details and specifications are available at www.abit.com.tw

Fastest Springdale board ever?

In what is described as a spectacular feat of engineering prowess, the ABIT Engineers have created a BIOS for the IS7 Series that unlocks the performance of the 865PE chipset, making the ABIT IS7 series boards the fastest 865PE motherboards ever made! Even at stock speeds, the IS7 series is said to be 17% faster than all other Springdale boards. The IC7 Series also takes advantage of ABIT's Game Accelerator making the ABIT IS7 / IC7 series the gamer's choice for more frags, better gameplay and mind-bending graphic performance. Within ABIT Softmenu(tm), Game Accelerator allows users the following options: Auto Turbo Street Racer F1 Users have a choice between "Auto", "Turbo", "Street racer" and "F1" so they can optimize their system performance according to their memory modules.  The IC7-G will also come equipped with these new settings. With each setting, users can push their overall PC performance further and further.  Those who select F1 in the BIOS settings are looking to get Formula 1 performance from their desktop PC, and so should be prepared to unleash raw computing power.  Stay tuned and we'll have a complete review for you soon.
